The Happy Swim
Late yesterday afternoon as I was swimming at the beach with a friend, we were suddenly surprised by the appearance of a little black and white head in the water. It was one of these little fellas:
A Fairy Penguin.:)
It was rather enchanting.

Enchanting is the perfect word - he reminds me of the penguins in Mary Poppins - did he dance?

Please! We live in the American southwestern high-desert: could you please elaborate? Penguins visit/migrate/live/? on Australian beaches?? This sounds fascinating!

Yeah, penguins live & breed in a small pocket of Sydney’s North Harbour. They can also be found in many other places in Australia, such as Tasmania. I blogged a while ago about our penguin watching experience at Low Head Tassie. You can also find them in Victoria. I hope that helps.
